The Student's Guide to the 2016 AES Meeting

Welcome to NOLA, students! Here are some events and opportunities that you don’t want to miss at this year’s meeting…

- Support your fellow students by attending their talks and posters. Gruber Award eligible talks are marked with a “G” and Carrier Award talks are marked with a “C” in your programs.

- Throughout the next few days, be sure to read the Conservation Resolutions posted on the AES website and in the AES store. We will vote on them at our Business Meeting on Saturday.

- Student Social TBA: We will have a student social on either Friday or Saturday evening, depending on venue availability. Stay tuned for announcements!

Thursday:

8:35 am – Student Business Meeting, AES Store, Regent

This will be a very brief meeting to introduce the Student Affairs Committee (SAC), announce SAC position openings, and update you on student issues.

*We will not be having a Student Business Meeting at noon as stated in the program.

8:45 am – Store Training Meeting, AES Store, Regent

Store Coordinators Kady Lyons and Allison Enchelmaier will train us to run our store. The store is a great place to browse, meet other society members, and the proceeds support student travel!

Friday:

4:00-5:00 – Poster Session I, Acadia/Bissonet

AES Posters can be found in this session.

Saturday:

12:00-1:30 – AES Graduate Student Workshop, Studio 8

“The Ins and Outs of Funding Your Research”

Come soak up some expert advice on obtaining funding, and take advantage of the opportunity to ask panelists questions! Lunch will be provided on site for a $5 required donation. Find Bryan Keller if you have questions!

3:30-4:30 – AES Business Meeting, Balconies L & M

Students are welcome and encouraged to attend the AES Business Meeting. This is a great way to be active and involved the Society!

Sunday:

6:00-midnight – AES Banquet, The Chicory

Dinner, dancing, awards presentations, and the raffle and live auction that both entertain us and fund our student travel (not in that order).
